Minecraft Tips: How to Quickly Build a Nether Portal

The path to completing a Minecraft Nether portal is complex and theoretically laborious. It's not as quick as whipping out and igniting obsidian bricks when playing survival mode. Often, it calls for hours of preparation.

Completing the Nether portal means gaining entry to the hellish Nether, a place filled with violent mobs, unsafe environments, and formidable Nether fortresses. It's also the only place to find a wide range of unique materials and crafting items, making it a valuable place to access.

While there are a few different ways to build a Nether portal, all Nether gateways have the same function. Read on to find out one way to create one (as seen in the image below) quickly.

Build the Obsidian Frame

You need 14 obsidian to build the frame of the Nether portal in Minecraft. The base of the Nether portal should be four obsidian wide. Its sides should be five obsidian high

A total of 14 blocks of obsidian will be used for this particular design. One recommendation is to build a small platform to stand on at the top of the Nether portal when positioning the obsidian.

The game control to position every obsidian block is based on the Minecraft's edition.

Next, you need to activate the Nether Portal. To activate the portal, you can use either flint and steel or a fire charge. Use the flint and steel in this case. So, in your hotbar, select the flint and steel.

Walk through the Nether Portal

After using the flint and steel in the portal frame, the portal's middle should be shining and turning purple. This implies that the Nether portal is active and working, and you can transport to the Nether.

To use the portal, simply jump/walk through the Nether portal's purple region. You are going to be pulled into the Nether. Once you're in the Nether, there'll be another portal that will bring you back to your Minecraft world. Explore it, and have fun.

Conclusion

You can move back and forth as much as you want, now that you know how to build a Nether portal. Once you've conquered the Nether by yourself, nothing can hinder you except the creepers.
