Build the Obsidian Frame
You need 14 obsidian to build the frame of the Nether portal in Minecraft. The base of the Nether portal should be four obsidian wide. Its sides should be five obsidian high.
A total of 14 blocks of obsidian will be used for this particular design. One recommendation is to build a small platform to stand on at the top of the Nether portal when positioning the obsidian.
